Harai-goshi (sweeping hip throw)

| Print this page |

This is an extension of o-goshi, with the introduction of a kick backwards.

After the same set-up as o-goshi. Your hips make close contact with the attacker's abdomen and you sweep him or her off balance with a kick backwards using the right leg, while simultaneously pulling them forwards with your raised right arm. Uke then falls forwards over your hip.

Full list
Here is a list of most of the techniques you'll need to know for Jitsu and at what level you'll meet them. The list is not completely definitive because modern Judo is creating many more throws, some of which Jitsuka are adapting for their own use.
