Leglocks are a way to pin attackers or cause pain using their legs. They involve applying either force or overtensioning to joints and tendons in the legs.

There are five standing leglocks, with one variant, taught in Jitsu and they are usually displayed in kata form:

  1. Kata hiza hishigi (single knee crush)
  2. Ryo ashi hishigi (double leg crush)
  3. Hiza hishigi (knee crush) (also variant with fist)
  4. Ryo hiza gaeshi (double knee twist)
  5. Kata hiza gaeshi (single knee twist)

There are also various leg locks taught in groundwork.
